Down Syndrome
What is Down
syndrome?
Down syndrome is a genetic disorder caused by a third copy of chromosome 21. It’s a disorder that happens before child birth. People that usually have Down syndrome usually have a flatter face and a shorter neck; these are just some of the visual symptoms of having this genetic disorder. Patients that have this disorder usually have a lower intelligence (below average). Children that have Down syndrome usually also have other problems with their heart, intestine, ear, or breathing problems. These are just a few symptoms of having this disorder. There are no cures for Down syndrome, but at an early age parents can put their kids in special classes to help them succeed in life. Down syndrome is a lifelong disorder, but patients can live a long healthy and happy life with it.
